Firewood collection - River Red Gum Parks
There will be no firewood collection areas in the parks and reserves managed by Parks Victoria in Spring 2022 due to high river levels in the Robinvale collection areas.
Domestic firewood on public land is a limited resource that needs to be carefully managed. Future collection from Parks Victoria managed land will be subject to access and supply. In many instances, further wood removal from parks would have a negative impact on the health of the forest environment.
Firewood for personal use can only be collected from domestic firewood collection in the autumn and spring firewood collection seasons. For details of where, when and what firewood can be collected, visit: https://www.ffm.vic.gov.au/firewood/firewood-collection-in-your-region
We encourage the community to consider where the firewood they purchase comes from. Victorians are urged to ask questions before they buy, to avoid inadvertently supporting illegal firewood operators and to reduce the impact of these illegal activities on our environment.
