Firewood collection - River Red Gum Parks

There will be no firewood collection areas in the parks and reserves managed by Parks Victoria in Spring 2021.

Domestic firewood on public land is a limited resource that needs to be carefully managed. Future collection from Parks Victoria managed land will be subject to access and supply. In many instances, further wood removal from parks would have a negative impact on the health of the forest environment.

Alternative sources of firewood include public firewood collection areas across Victoria and commercial suppliers. For information about firewood collection, including collection areas and regulations, visit www.ffm.vic.gov.au/firewood

Parks Victoria and the Conservation Regulator are currently conducting regular patrols in parks and forests as part of Operation Hollows. The illegal collection and commercial sale of firewood attracts fines starting at $661 and/or prosecution in the Magistrates Court.
