Mariners are advised of the following events occurring in Western Port Phillip, as part of the Geelong Festival of Sails during the dates noted above.
1. Sailing Regatta from Melbourne to Geelong A sailing Regatta will occur on Saturday 25 January between 0900hrs and 2100hrs, with a large number of vessels expected. The Regatta will follow a course from Point Gellibrand, Williamstown at approximate location 37°53.300’S, 144°54.000’E (WGS84), through Western Port Phillip to Geelong, Corio Bay. The finishing point is located approximately 400 metres north east of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club Marina, at approximate location 38°08.226’S, 144°21.948’E (WGS84). The Regatta course will be marked and will be patrolled by official vessels.
2. Sailing Races in Corio Bay and Outer Harbour Multiple sailing races are occurring in Corio Bay and Outer Harbour from Saturday 25 January to Monday 27 January between 0900hrs and 2100hrs with a large number of vessels expected. The race courses will be marked and will be patrolled by official vessels.
3. Water Ski Demonstrations at Steampacket Quay, Geelong
Water Ski demonstrations are occurring at Steampacket Quay, Geelong from Saturday 25 January to Monday 27 January between 0900hrs and 2130hrs. The demonstrations will take place between Cunningham Pier and the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, bounded by the shore and the following approximate locations (WGS84):
1. 38°08.455’S, 144°21.799’E 2. 38°08.536’S, 144°21.796’E
The area will be marked and will be patrolled by official vessels.
