Eastern Beach – Ironman 70.3 Swim Event – Updated Exclusion Zone Information

Date:

Friday 18th February until Sunday 20th February 2022 at 1500hrs.

Details:

Mariners are advised of a triathlon swim event at Eastern Beach, Geelong during the times nominated above. Mobilisation and set up will begin on Friday 18 February with the main event occurring on Sunday 20 February. An Exclusion Zone for the event has been established from 0700hrs until 0930hrs on Sunday 20 February, in which multiple swim races will occur. Races will occur off the beach in a triangular area bounded by the following approximate locations (WGS84):

1. 38° 08.790’S, 144° 22.190’E 2. 38° 08.370’S, 144° 22.275’E

3. 38° 08.768’S, 144° 22.508’E

The competition area will be delineated by marker buoys and patrolled by event marshals.

Mariners are prohibited from entering the exclusion zone between 0700hrs and 0930hrs on Sunday 20 February and are advised to navigate with caution and observe signage and directions from event officials throughout the event period.

Relevant Law:

The exclusion zone has been established under section 208(2) of the Marine Safety Act 2010. Entry is prohibited to all persons excluding the event participants and Parks Victoria officers.
