Rye Pier – Reconstruction Project Stage 2 – Upgrade Works and Temporary Closures

Details:

Mariners are advised of upgrade works to Rye Pier Head and Low Landing, at approximate location 38°21.955’S, 144°49.379’E (WGS84). The entire pier will be closed on weekdays for the duration of the works, but the first 300 metres will be open to pedestrians only on some weekends.
A set-aside area has been established around the works area, extending approximately 30 metres from the pier head and low landing, shown in the Map on the attachment at Zone 1 and 2. Both zones will be active for this stage of the works, until further notice. Entry is prohibited except for Parks Victoria officers and individuals involved in the works.
The works will involve piling and will be undertaken with barges and work boats. On-water plant, equipment and potential hazards to navigation arising from the works will be marked as per IALA standards.

Mariners are prohibited from entering the set aside area during the date and times nominated above and are advised to navigate with caution within the vicinity of the works.

Relevant Law:

The set aside has been established under Regulation 10 of the Port Management (Local Ports) Regulations 2015 Entry is prohibited to all persons excluding the individuals involved in the works and Parks Victoria officers.
