Werribee River Entrance – Narrow Navigation Channel

Details:

Mariners are advised that the navigation channel at the entrance to Werribee River has narrowed significantly due to sand build up at approximate location: 37°58.393’S, 144°41.206’E (WGS84).
The sand spit has formed opposite Werribee South Jetty and is building northwards towards the navigation channel. Sand has also built up under the low landing at the eastern end of Werribee South Jetty, making it unsuitable for berthing.
Dredging will be undertaken as soon as practicable.
Mariners should exercise caution when approaching or passing other vessels and navigate within the designated speed limit in the vicinity of Werribee South Jetty.
