San Remo Bridge – Stage 2 Reduced Air Draught & Navigation Direction

Date:

From Monday 8 July 2024 until further notice

Details:

Mariners are advised of works occurring beneath the San Remo Bridge, 38°31.113’S, 145°21.862’E (WGS84), during the above dates.

The works will be undertaken via a scaffold system secured from the bridge structure. The scaffold will temporarily reduce the air draught under the bridge by approximately 2.5 metres.

The works period will contain four stages progressing the scaffold from East to West, thereby changing the navigable bridge spans as communicated by notice.

Navigation will move from Span 10 to Span 11 from 8 July, as per Figure 1 below for the stage two bridge span closure.

Mariners are notified of the temporarily reduced air draught beneath San Remo Bridge and required to navigate between the open bridge spans marked by lit lateral shapes only.

Relevant Law:

Notice controlling navigation under 211(1)(a) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic). Gazette No. S 211, 30 April 2024. All vessel masters must transit through the lateral markers with day shapes and lights placed on the bridge and scaffolding to direct vessels through bridge spans with unaffected air draught. All vessel masters are prohibited from navigation under bridge spans that contravene traffic management established on site at that time.
