Rail Bridge Maintenance Works and Exclusion Zone

Details:

Mariners are advised of works to the Rail Bridge over Patterson River from the date noted above. The works will involve a barge positioned under the bridge within an exclusion zone to enable safe works.
The exclusion zone will extend along the north bank, from approximately 60m upstream to 60m downstream of the Rail Bridge between the following approximate locations (WGS84):

The exclusion zone includes the northern transit lane beneath the bridge, and southern section between the rock wall and bridge piles, as shown in figure 1 below. The Southern transit lane will remain open for all vessel traffic.
The works will move to the southern span of the bridge in approximately mid-September, subject to Further Notice. Dredging at the mouth of Patterson River is also planned to occur in early September, as outlined in NTM 441(T)-2025.

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and no wash within the vicinity of the Patterson River Rail Bridge and obey all speed limits and signage.

Relevant Law:

The exclusion zone has been established under section 211(1) (b) of the Marine Safety Act 2010. Vessels are prohibited from entering the exclusion zone, excluding vessels involved directly in the works and Parks Victoria vessels.
