Seeking an operator for Mount Buffalo Chalet Cafe

Thursday 19 November, 2020

Experienced operators are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to provide a year-round café experience within the historic Mount Buffalo Chalet.

The Mount Buffalo Chalet is a landmark heritage building built in 1910, uniquely positioned at ‘the Gorge’ at the top of Mount Buffalo in Victoria’s high country. It commands spectacular views across the Alps, Mount Hotham and surrounding valleys.

The Chalet has been closed since the 2006/07 fires. This EOI provides a unique opportunity for experienced operators to bring a quality food and beverage offering, showcasing local produce, inside the iconic Chalet, surrounded by the natural beauty of Victoria’s North East.

The first stage of the EOI is open from Thursday 19 November 2020 to Sunday 31 January 2021. Applicants are invited to clearly define their vision for the café. Short-listed stage one applicants will be invited to submit a full business case in stage two of the EOI. The café is expected to open in summer 2021/22.
