Triplet Falls closed during road stabilisation works

Thursday 4 March, 2021

There will be no access to Triplet Falls and Little Aire Falls in the Great Otway National Park during most of March while essential roadworks are completed.

The road stabilisation works will take place between 9–31 March on approximately two kilometres of Philips Track, which leads to the waterfalls.

Hopetoun Falls, Erskine Falls, Sheoak Falls and Kalimna Falls are nearby alternatives in this section of the park, while the Philips Track roadworks have been scheduled to ensure the popular Triplet Falls are accessible for the Easter long weekend.

Parts of the Great Otway National Park receive the highest average rainfall in Victoria, requiring regular monitoring and maintenance of the park’s many tracks and trails. The stabilisation works at Philips Track will ensure it is safe for use into the future.

Digital message boards have been installed to inform visitors of the roadworks, and visitors are reminded to always check the Parks Victoria website for any changed conditions prior to their trip.

These roadworks are being delivered by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s Reducing Bushfire Risk program.

Quotes attributed to Carl Gray, Area Chief Ranger–Parks Victoria:

“Despite the milder conditions it’s been a busy summer in the Great Otway National Park, with Victorians taking advantage of this special environment that we have on our doorstop.”

“Triplet Falls is a popular destination that we’ll have back open again to the public in a few weeks’ time.”

“Until then, I encourage visitors to consider the many other amazing locations on offer in the national park.”
