Warrandyte State Park has a rich gold history, Gold Memorial is the official site of Victoria’s first gold discovery in 1851.
Andersons Creek flows through the heart of the Gold Memorial visitor site and is a popular location for prospecting, bushwalking and exploring the gold heritage of Warrandyte. Prospecting is permitted within a section of the Andersons Creek and requires a Miners Right. Only non-mechanical handtools are permitted for prospecting. Excavations must only be in the creek-bed between markers and must be backfilled. Vegetation must not be disturbed.
Horse riding is permitted on bridle trails only.
Mountain bikes are permitted on Management Vehicle Tracks only.
Dogs, camping and fires are not permitted.

Deer Control in Warrandyte State park

Deer control works will be taking place in a number of locations within the Warrandyte landscape. These include: Jumping Creek Reserve, Mt Lofty Reserve, Pound Bend Reserve, Fourth Hill, The Common (Warrandyte State Park), Overbank Rd/Gaybrooke Block, Glynns Reserve (Yarra Valley Parklands) and the Yanakie Block, One Tree Hill and Rifle Range Reserve (Warrandyte-Kinglake Nature Conservation Reserve). The goal of this project is to reduce deer populations to mitigate deer impacts on the values in the surrounding area.
This program will be conducted by professional contract shooters and will operate between the 13th of October and 30th December 2025. The program will be conducted in the areas highlighted on the attached map.
The affected areas within the park/reserve will be closed between the hours of 4pm and 6am during nights of control.  Signs will be displayed at all official entrance points to the park/reserve when shooting is in progress.
