Walk or cycle along the extensive network of trails. Take a long stroll around the park to observe its expansive size and incredible views. With over 10km of tracks in Brimbank Park and the Maribyrnong River Trail, you're bound to find a walk that's right for you.
Those looking for a bit of a challenge will find the Maribyrnong River Trail. This 25km trail is truly breathtaking. The tree-lined river path meanders along the Maribyrnong River all the way to Footscray.
In parts of the park, native grasslands sweep across open plains, down through rocky outcrop escarpments to majestic River Red Gums lining the Maribyrnong River. These natural areas are home to a host of local wildlife.
See if you can spot birds including parrots, galahs, large wetland birds and birds of prey. Brushtail and ringtail possums live in the large River Red Gums. Wallabies and bats are known to frequent the area, as well as different species of reptiles.

Please be aware that snakes are active at Brimbank Park. River crossings may be flooded and unsafe to cross. Steep sections of shared trails are found within Brimbank park.

Main Regional Trail (Maribyrnong Valley Parklands (COM), Maribyrnong River, Brimbank Park)
Maribyrnong River Trail partial closure
The Maribyrnong River Trail is closed from ‘Carpark C’ in Brimbank Park to Canning Street, Avondale Heights. There is no access between these points for safety reasons.Flood damage has impacted trails, culverts and fences in various sections; these hazardous impacts and debris now need to be removed and rectified to ensure continued safe access for the community.Planning is underway to repair the trail and works are expected to start in mid-late 2024, subject to environmental and on-ground conditions. -

Please take your rubbish home with you (including cigarette butts) for recycling or disposal.
Dogs are permitted at Brimbank Park but must be kept on a lead at all times.
All plants, animals, historical and archaeological sites and geographic features are protected by law. Please do not disturb them in any way.
Vehicles including motorbikes may only be used on formed open roads.
Firearms and generators are prohibited.
