Hampton Pier Demolition Works and Exclusion Zone

Details:

Mariners are advised of demolition works to Hampton Pier within Sandringham Harbour, at approximate location: 37°56.639’S, 144°59.775’E (WGS84).

An Exclusion Zone will be established around the pier, pier head, outer berthing arm and stern piles. The Exclusion Zone will be marked with buoys as shown in figure 1 below, at the following approximate locations (WGS84):

1. 37°56.663'S, 144°59.788'E

2. 37°56.645'S, 144°59.777'E

3. 37°56.638'S, 144°59.750'E

4. 37°56.627'S, 144°59.753'E

5. 37°56.612'S, 144°59.765'E

6. 37°56.608'S, 144°59.777'E

7. 37°56.613'S, 144°59.795'E

8. 37°56.633'S, 144°59.797'E

9. 37°56.648'S, 144°59.810'E

The works will involve general demolition activities and will be undertaken with barges and work boats. On-water plant, equipment and potential hazards to navigation arising from the works will be marked as per IALA standards. Navigation will be maintained through to the Sandringham Yacht Club area.

Mariners are prohibited from entering the Exclusion Zone from the date nominated above and are advised to navigate with caution within the vicinity of the works.

Relevant Law:

The Exclusion Zone has been established under Section 211 of the Marine Safety Act 2010. Entry is prohibited to all persons excluding the individuals involved in the works and Parks Victoria officers.
