Having your activities in ParkConnect helps in two ways:

  • Safety and support: It ensures your ranger knows when and where your group is working so they can support you
  • Finding volunteers: You can choose to make your activities public so new volunteers can find and join your group.
  • Measuring Impact: Recording your hours provides important data to recognise the contributions of your volunteers and advocate for additional resources to support the parks that we care about.

 

Starting a New Group

If you are forming a new group, your Contact Ranger is your first point of call.

  • Pitch your idea: Share your group’s name, goals, and a rough schedule with your Ranger
  • Alignment: They will help align your passion with the park’s areas of need
  • Setup: Once approved, your Ranger will create your group page in ParkConnect and assign you as the group leader.

Once your group is established, you can review and edit your group details here. There is training available on ParkConnect under the ‘Support’ tab related to how to complete the groups admin and edit group details.

 

Register as Leader on ParkConnect

If your group is already established but the Leader has changed, we need to keep our records current.

 

Managing your group page and activities

Your group page provides an overview of what your group achieves for volunteers. You can update your activities or group details at any time, especially during your annual VAP review.

At the time of creating your VAP on ParkConnect, you will be prompted to input details about your ongoing planned activities. By including them in your VAP, ParkConnect will automatically create the individual activities for the next 12 months in the system at the time when your Contact Ranger approves the VAP.

Groups have the freedom to request volunteers to sign up with ParkConnect and register their attendance via the platform, or alternatively register via an [LINK activity attendance sheet]. If your activity attendance is managed through the sheet, simply upload a soft copy of the attendance sheet to your activity on ParkConnect after the activity is completed.
