Join the Murray River Adventure Trail conversation
Monday 23 September, 2024
It’s not too late to have your say on the plans for stage one of the Murray River Adventure Trail! Designs are now available for feedback on the Engage Victoria project page, and we’re keen to hear from locals, visitors, campers, kayakers, and cyclists before consultation closes on 6 October 2024.
Stage one of the trail will bring new canoe and kayak launches, improved walking and cycling links and upgraded facilities across key locations from Barmah National Park to Koondrook. This stage has six new water access points, each designed in consultation with local tour operators and the paddling community to suit the varied conditions along the Murray River.

While planning for future trail connections is ongoing, this phase focuses on developing essential visitor infrastructure. Key features proposed include:
- Five stepped-style water launches – designed to accommodate water level changes, with a safe, non-slip surface and tethering points.
- Barmah Lakes floating pontoon – featuring an accessible canoe and kayak launch with a mobility-friendly bench seat and handrail, designed to suit all visitors.
In addition to the water launches, walking and cycling links and upgraded facilities at key visitor sites aim to enhance your overall visitor experience.
