The much-loved campgrounds in the Fraser Block at Lake Eildon on Taungurung Country will soon receive updates so visitors can keep camping in the National Park for many years to come.

Parks Victoria has appointed construction company Naturform to update the toilet facilities at Lake Eildon National Park. Naturform has nearly 40 years of experience delivering landscape construction projects.

Candlebark, Lakeside and Devil Cove Campgrounds will close from 7 January 2026 to allow the contractors on to the site. Construction will finish in early April, with all three campgrounds open for Easter.

New accessible toilet blocks at Lakeside, Candlebark and Devil Cove Campgrounds will make it easier for more Victorians to enjoy camping in the great outdoors.

The project will also build a new toilet block next to the main boat ramp, with construction beginning in December. The existing toilet block at Herb Fitzroy Day Visitor Area will stay open until the new facility is finished.

The updates are funded by a $4.6 million investment from the Victorian Government’s ‘Victoria’s Great Outdoors’ program.

Water supply issues caused by ageing infrastructure have limited the number of people able to camp at the Fraser Block campgrounds in recent times.

Much of the water supply infrastructure at the Fraser Block campgrounds was built in the 1960s and has deteriorated beyond repair. Updating the water and wastewater management infrastructure in the park will ensure that these systems meet today’s environmental standards.

Camping by Lake Eildon offers a whole world of watersports in a spectacular setting. Visitors can go swimming, canoeing, waterskiing, sailing and fishing in the shadow of the Victorian Alps, or enjoy bushwalking and cycling along a network of trails.
