We’re strengthening nature’s frontline by creating multiple new park ranger roles across western and central Victoria.

These roles will help manage Victoria's newest parks, which are officially being created in October 2026.

The new rangers will be based in the Central Highlands and Central Goldfields - including Bacchus Marsh, Bendigo, Macedon and surrounds. They will help care for destinations including the new Wombat-Lerderderg, Mount Buangor and Pyrenees national parks. 

We’re particularly interested to hear from people who know and care about these special places, who can bring local knowledge and park management skills. This includes people with practical conservation and natural resource skills, or trade history as a carpenter, electrician, landscape gardener and more.

A role as a ranger offers rewarding, varied work outdoors. You’ll be working in natural landscapes with people, building connections with the community, and creating unforgettable experiences for visitors to western and central Victoria.

These positions will play a vital role in protecting nature and delivering great visitor experiences. From maintaining tracks, campgrounds and visitor facilities to supporting conservation programs, working with Traditional Owners, delivering education and community programs, and engaging with volunteers, tour operators and local communities.
