Macedon Ranges Walk (Macedon Regional Park)
Most sections of the trail are Grade 3 level moderate to difficult walking due to the steep mountain slopes.
Trail users can enjoy shorter sections or as a complete loop, passing a variety of vegetation types and attractions including the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross, the Camels Hump and Sanatorium Lake Eco-trail . The trail also passes through a number of picnic grounds, some with toilet facilities.
Macedon Ranges Walk provides access to Camels Hump, a popular spot with climbers. Please note that rock climbing is permitted only at Camels Hump in the area bounded by Cameron Drive, Camels Hump Trailhead, Macedon Ranges Walk and Mount Macedon Road. The site must be accessed from existing walking tracks and should only be undertaken by experienced climbers or under the guidance of skilled and qualified instructors.
Visitor tips: Check the weather forecast before exploring the park as Mount Macedon is usually cooler than surrounding areas and conditions can change quickly. Please bring adequate drinking water with you. Consider loading Avenza maps on your smart phone or tablet. Hiking poles may be useful for steeper ascents and descents.
