Mt Terrick Terrick Camping Area (Terrick Terrick National Park)

This basic unpowered campsite offers self-sufficient visitors the opportunity to spend a quiet night under the stars. Enjoy the sunset from the summit of Mt Terrick Terrick, a short walk away, and wake to the sound of the park’s diverse birdlife. In spring, the woodlands around the camping and picnic areas are carpeted in wildflowers. Camping is free and no bookings are required. However, as a courtesy, please inform rangers of your stay by calling 13 1963.

Visitor Tips: To protect the park’s fragile vegetation, camping is only permitted in the defined camping area adjacent to the picnic area, within the fenced area. Shared facilities include picnic tables and composting toilets. The gravel access road is suitable for 2WD vehicles, including caravans and mobile homes in dry conditions but can become boggy after heavy rain. Beware of uneven ground. A 30kmph speed limit applies within the park.

No bins or water are provided, so please bring all the water you need and take your rubbish home for recycling or disposal. Fires, firewood collection and the use of generators are prohibited. Gas and electric camping stoves and barbecues may be used, including on a day of Total Fire Ban, provided that: a three-metre area is cleared of anything flammable; at least 10 litres of water is available for immediate use; and an adult is in attendance at all times.

Avoid camping or parking under or near large trees. Trees and branches may fall at any time and swing away from the tree. All native plants and animals are protected by law. Please do not disturb them in any way. Pets are prohibited.

The walk to the summit of Mt Terrick Terrick is short but the summit is exposed and the steep granite rocks can be very slippery after rain. Shoes or boots with a good grip are recommended. The path is not recommended for people with limited mobility, and visitors should take care in wet or windy weather.

Terrick Terrick National Park is in the Northern Country Total Fire Ban District. Bushfire safety is a personal responsibility. For up to date information on bushfires in Victoria call the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226, download the VicEmergency app, or go to the Prepare and Get Ready tab at www.emergency.vic.gov.au.
