O'Briens Crossing Day Visitor Area (Lerderderg State Park, Lerderderg River Heritage River)

Accessed from O’Briens Rd, in the northern end of the park, O’Briens Crossing Day Visitor Area is nestled by the banks of the Lerderderg River beneath the shelter of tall gum trees. Picnic facilities including tables and toilets will help you enjoy a picnic before setting out on one of the adjacent walks, where you can explore the rugged terrain of Lerderderg Gorge. Dogs are welcome at O’Briens Crossing Day Visito Area, although must be on-lead.

The O’Briens Crossing - Tunnel Walk meanders through the steep Lerderderg Valley. Dogs on-lead are permitted on this walk.

The more adventurous East Walk – Cowans Track Loop Walk, follows the alongside the Lerderderg River before looping back through rugged bushland. Dogs are not permitted on the East Walk-Cowan Track Loop.

Camping is available at the nearby Lerderderg Gorge campground.
Prospecting, fossicking, and digging is prohibited. Penalties apply.
Rubbish bins are not provided so please take all rubbish home with you.

Lerderderg State Park is in the Central fire district. Bushfire safety is a personal responsibility. Park Closure - Fire

There is a fire within Lerderderg State Park. See attached map for closed area. Obriens Road is closed between Greendale-Trentham Road and Bluegum- Obrien Link track. Lerderderg Campground, Obrien's Picnic Area, Ambler Lane Campground including walking and vehicle tracks leading to Obriens road are closed.  These areas will remain closed to all visitors until safe to reopen

Partial Park Closure of Lerderderg State Park due to fire
