R.J. Hamer Arboretum Car Park - Planned Tree Works
Independent arborists have assessed several trees in the R.J. Hamer Arboretum Car Park and found they are in poor health and structurally unsafe.
Although these Eucalypts are native to Australia, they are not local to this area. They were planted in the 1970s as part of the arboretum’s original design but are no longer suitable for high visitor and vehicle traffic areas.
These trees are now at the end of their life. Many have lost limbs, require pruning, or have already died.
Where possible, trees will be left to provide habitat.
Parks Victoria will explore suitable replacement options as part of its ongoing revegetation and botanic management efforts.
