Seasonal road closures
Many roads and tracks are seasonally closed to vehicle traffic each year. These tracks are closed to vehicles for visitor safety, to maintain water quality and prevent erosion during the wetter months as rain and snow softens the tracks, making them vulnerable to damage.
Seasonal road closures generally operate from the long weekend in June through to the end of October, but may be extended due to seasonal conditions.
The majority of seasonal road closures for 2020 have finished. However, some tracks extend past the general closure period.
We will start reopening seasonally closed roads from 29 October 2020 but the public should be aware that particular roads may not be reopened on that date due to several factors, including the presence of unsafe conditions. The public should therefore exercise caution.
Remember to check individual park pages on this website before you go for other changes to conditions.

Fire affected parks
Due to recent bushfire activity, a number of parks and forests affected by fire have also been closed. For a full list, check Fire affected parks.
Extended seasonal road closures 2020
Extended seasonal road closures apply to areas within and tracks bordering the Alpine National Park and Yarra Ranges National Park. See the maps below for locations of the closures.
