Nature Trail reopens at Cathedral Range State Park

27 February 2020: The Friends Nature Trail in Cathedral Range State Park, which was destroyed by fire in 2018, is reopening in time for the March long weekend.
From Friday 6 March, visitors to the park can once again enjoy the gentle 2km one-hour circuit walk through the Manna Gum forest.
The Trail crosses footbridges over Storm Creek and Little River, and passes the old sawmill, a heritage site that operated in the 1940s and 1950s.
The Trail - originally built by volunteers in 2011 - was burnt in March 2018. During the fire, part of the trail was used by fire vehicles to access and fight the fire.
Since that time, the trail has been rehabilitated to once again be a narrow walking track and a new section of steel board walk has been built to replace the original boardwalk. Hazardous trees have been removed from the area over the time since the fire.
To access the walk, follow the signs from Cooks Mill campground.
Neds Gully campground is closed until mid to late 2020 while a bridge allowing access to the campground is being rebuilt.
