New facilities ready for family fun at Braeside Park

Monday 21 March, 2022

Braeside Park is all set for picnicking fun with family and friends after a series of upgrades were completed at Telford Picnic Area.

New picnic tables made from recycled plastic were delivered in February as the final upgrade for the first phase of the works at the popular park in Melbourne’s south-east.

The upgrades include new picnic tables, barbecues, drinking fountains, signage, minor road repairs, and refurbished toilets, creating a more enjoyable experience for the local community and visitors.

The project also included improving the level of access for the disabled toilet so more people can enjoy visiting the park.

Braeside Park is an oasis of parkland nestled amongst golf courses and urban development in Melbourne’s south east on Bunurong Country.

The park offers walking and biking trails, picnic areas and an adventure playground suitable for all ages and abilities. Visitors can follow the park’s trails through grassy woodlands, heathland and wetlands where there are opportunities to spot a diverse range wildlife including birds, frogs, flying foxes and even echidnas!

Further works are planned for both Bent and Sherrie Bridges as part of the broader program delivery in 2023.

The park upgrades are being delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program, which is providing $21 million of upgrades at 21 parks to encourage more Melburnians to spend time outdoors and enjoy the benefits of being in nature.

Parks Victoria is delivering these upgrades between 2021-2023, with recycled picnic tables recently installed at 17 parks, early works completed at Cardinia Reservoir Park and Greenvale Reservoir Park, and preliminary works underway at the sea wall at Point Gellibrand Coastal Park and on the Bay Trail extension to Point Cook Coastal Park.
