Cardinia Reservoir Park welcomes facility upgrades
Monday 21 March, 2022
Cardinia Reservoir Park’s picnic areas have received a facelift, with the delivery of new picnic tables made from recycled plastic marking the completion of a series of upgrades.
The upgrades at Aura Vale Lake, Crystal Brook and Kangaroo Flat Picnic Areas include refurbished and upgraded toilets, picnic tables and shelters, BBQs, drinking fountains and carpark repairs.
The project also included improving the level of access for the disabled toilet at Aura Vale Lake, so more people can enjoy visiting the park.
Cardinia Reservoir Park will also have boardwalk and trail repairs completed in 2023.
Located in Emerald, on Bunurong Country, the park is a haven for picnics, wildlife viewing, walking and fishing. The reservoir itself is a stunning expanse of water which can be viewed from lookouts around the park.
This project is funded through the Victorian Government’s Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program, which is delivering $21 million of upgrades at 21 parks to encourage more Melburnians to spend time outdoors and enjoy the benefits of being in nature.
Parks Victoria is delivering these upgrades between 2021-2023, with recycled picnic tables recently installed at 17 parks, early works completed at Braeside Park and Greenvale Reservoir Park, and preliminary works underway at the sea wall at Point Gellibrand Coastal Park and on the Bay Trail extension to Point Cook Coastal Park.
