A new cafe operator is coming to Jells Park
Thursday 28 March, 2024
Jells Park visitors will soon be able to enjoy a range of new offerings at the café.
The café is currently closed while the new tenant sets up and organises relevant approvals with Monash City Council. In the interim, a coffee cart will be located on site from early April – so visitors can continue to enjoy coffee, juices and cakes.
Excitingly the new café operator plans to upgrade the existing building over time. This includes the function space, café, dining areas and toilets and improving the connection to the neighbouring play scape.
The new tenants are locals to the area, and we’re excited to see their fresh ideas for the café start to take shape over time.
We’ll continue to keep the community updated on any plans for the café via the Change of Conditions section on the Jells Park page.
Home to fantastic playscapes, big open green spaces, special flora and fauna and picnic areas, the much-loved local park just keeps getting better - with the new café is just one of many exciting changes taking place across Jells Park.
A $5.9 million Victorian Government investment will deliver two Shared-Use Trails at the park. The scenic Bushland Trail provides an opportunity for people to walk, run or cycle through the many natural landscapes of Jells Park. The shorter Lake Trail loops around the café and playscapes, showcasing great views of the lake. A builder will be appointed in the coming months, and works are due to start in mid-2024.
We’re also activating Jells Park’s northern and southern grounds by upgrading two cricket ovals. The $4 million Victorian Government Sports Fields project will provide fit-for-purpose cricket pitches for local clubs to use during Melbourne’s busy cricket season. In addition to cricket clubs, the sports fields will be able to accommodate a range of broader sports and recreational activities – meaning they can be enjoyed by whole community all year round.
