Walking and Hiking in Kooyara State Park

Kooyoora State Park's walking tracks offer spectacular vistas and the opportunity to navigate through breathtaking rock formations and natural habitats.

Southern Lookout Walking Track – 1.8km, 1.5 hours

From the Melville Caves Picnic Area, follow the track to Southern Lookout for some of the best views in the park.   

Long Rock Walking Track – 5.3km, 2-3 hours

Stop at the Southern Lookout before continuing on to McLeods Lookout for magnificent views. The track continues south through remarkable rock formations and rock pools.   

Fred Watts Loop Walking Track – 3.2km 1.5 hour circuit

This loop encompasses granite boulders, seasonal creek lines and a range of vegetation. Look for the markers on the ground for the names of many of the local plants.   

Kangderaar Link Track – 850m, 30 minutes

This track links up Aldridges Track with the Eastern Walking Track and provides access to the Melville Caves Campground. Follow an old farm track through the historic dairy property, Kangderaar, and then cross the creek to link to the Eastern Walking Track.   

Eastern Circuit – 4.5km, 2.5 hours circuit 

This loop track leads off Back Road, and includes a rock lookout for valley views, a creek crossing and interesting rock formations.
