Walking in Long Forest

Walkers in Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve can enjoy the nature of this special place with its small-scale creek escarpments, rocky Mallee tree woodlands and multiple circuit walk choices.

Djerriwarrh Track– 3km return, 1.5 hours return
Starting at the trailhead on the east side of Long Forest Road, follow Djerriwarrh Track down to a flat on Djerriwarrh Creek. 

Old House Track Circuit –3.5km, 2 hours
Follow Happy Valley Track from the trailhead to Link Track, then walk on to Gravelly Track and follow this down to the Coimadai Creek. Return via the Old House Track, Mallee Track and the Long Forest Road walking track to Happy Valley Trailhead.

Happy Valley Track – 4km return, 2 hours
Starting from Happy Valley Trailhead on Long Forest Road, this return walk takes you to a beautiful Blue-box tree flat beside the Coimadai Creek.

Coimadai Circuit – 4km, 2.5 hours
Starting from Canopus Circuit Trailhead, follow Long Point Track until it meets Coimadai Creek Trail, then walk on to Coimadai Track and follow this until you intersect with Long Point Track and return to Canopus Circuit carpark.

Happy Valley Trailhead to Canopus Circuit Trailhead - 8.5km, 4hours
This long loop walk starts from Happy Valley Trailhead and follows the Happy Valley Track down to Coimadai Creek Trail, then onto Long Point Track to reach Canopus Circuit Road, before returning via Long Forest Road’s adjoining walking track.

Moonah Track – 1.5km return, 45 minutes
Starting on Moonah Drive Trailhead at the north-east end of Long Forest Road, this walk takes you through open woodlands down to Djerriwarrh Creek and back up to the trailhead
