Volunteer

Volunteering in parks is a great way to contribute to conserving Victoria’s special places. The many personal benefits of volunteering include learning more about plants and wildlife, gaining new skills, being in the outdoors, improving health and well being and meeting new friends. Time spent in nature also reduces stress and promotes physical wellbeing.

    Closure of Portsea Pier

Portsea Pier will be temporarily closed from 20 July 2026 to allow major maintenance works to be undertaken.

The works are required to address storm-related damage and deteriorated structural elements, including replacing 40+ timber piles, beams, decking boards and capping.

    During this period:

Public assess to the pier will not be permitted
Birthing alongside the pier will not be available
Access arrangements for Licenced Tour Operators will be reviewed as works progress and may be permitted in specific areas subject to safety approvals

The closure is expected to remain in place until completion of works before summer 2026, weather permitting.

Further updates will be issued as works progress
