Change of Conditions

Nature being nature, sometimes conditions can change at short notice. It’s a good idea to check this page ahead of your visit for any updates.

Maribyrnong River Trail partial closure

The Maribyrnong River Trail is closed from ‘Carpark C’ in Brimbank Park to Canning Street, Avondale Heights. There is no access between these points for safety reasons.

Flood damage has impacted trails, culverts and fences in various sections; these hazardous impacts and debris now need to be removed and rectified to ensure continued safe access for the community.

Planning is underway to repair the trail and works are expected to start in mid-late 2024, subject to environmental and on-ground conditions.

No water to the northern side of Car park A at Brimbank Park

There is no water to taps at the northern end of Car Park A at Brimbank Park until further notice, effective 09/04/2024

Burndap Lake public landing

Locals and visitors will benefit from easier access to the river through this project and the Maribyrnong River Boat Ramp project, which together will help revitalise this waterside precinct. The public floating pontoon facility, to be located in place of the former privately managed Edgewater Marina, will be able to accommodate multiple short-term berths and feature a lower-level platform suitable for paddle craft. Find out more about the project.

Notice to River Users 17 April 2024

As Waterway Manager under the Marine Safety Act 2010 Parks Victoria wishes to advise these waterway closures and activities (PDF) on the Yarra River, Maribyrnong River and Victoria Harbour.
