Change of Conditions

Nature being nature, sometimes conditions can change at short notice. It’s a good idea to check this page ahead of your visit for any updates.

Current access at 23,000 Megaliters

Tracks remain closed to vehicles within Barmah National Park for public safety and to protect track conditions.
The following tracks are open within Barmah National Park, however they are recommended as four-wheel drive only due to current conditions:
Sand Ridge Tk (to the Lakes Camp Ground, Day Visitor Area & Dharnya Centre), Entrance tracks to the Lakes Camp Ground & Day Visitor areas, Boundary Track (Part) between Haynes Road & Crawfords Road, Reserve Track, Ulupna Beach Track and Lagoon Track on Ulupna Island.
Depending on changing conditions, 2WD drive vehicles and some 4WDs, including those with low clearance or without snorkels fitted, may have difficulty accessing some of these tracks.
It's highly recommended not to attempt to cross flood water for visitor safety and the safety of others.
Tracks are open within the Proposed Murray River Park (Part) and Tocumwal Regional Park (Part) on Ulupna Island (adjoining Barmah National Park) including Carters Track,  Labbetts Track & Loop Track. All tracks on The Ranch are also open.
See the attached map for tracks that remain open, highlighted green and recommended as 4x4 only access.

We will review access on a weekly basis and open the closed areas as soon as possible. Please take care on all tracks due to the wet conditions and if you can avoid using wet tracks, please do so to prevent track damage.

Note; the southern toilet at the Lakes camp ground and the toilet at the Lakes day visitor area are closed due to impacts from flooding.
Visitors to parks and reserves are reminded to follow the public health measures in place across regional Victoria, by following physical distancing measures.
