High above the Pyrenees foothills stands the Governors Rock lookout towering over a landscape of stringybarks, messmates and box iron barks. It’s the best spot in Percydale historic Reserve to get above it all and drink in the views of the surrounding landscape. It’s one of the very best vantage points in the district offering a stunning spot for photography. Run, ride, hike or drive however you make the trip it’ll be worth the stop. A fantastic way to finish off or start you on your journey through the Percydale Historic reserve. The surrounding area is rich in natural and cultural history, with spectacular views, rugged mountain ranges, abundant wildlife, a rich mix of wildflowers and historic sites. The elevated lookout is only a short walk from the Governors Rock picnic area, it does however have some uneven ground and steep section at the beginning of the trail.

Nearby attractions include the Waterfalls Picnic Area, Governor Rock Lookout and the Pyrenees Endurance & Valley Walks, and Percydale Goldfield Heritage precinct numerous wineries located around the district.

The site offers basic amenities. There are no toilets at the site. No bins are provided. Please take your rubbish away for recycling or disposal. Gathering firewood in the reserve is strictly forbidden.

The area is prone to Bushfires in warmer months. Bushfire safety is a personal responsibility.
