Grasmere Picnic Area (Cardinia Creek Parklands)

Cardinia Creek Parklands are located in the southeast growth corridor of metropolitan Melbourne and extend from the Harkaway foothills to the open plains south of Beaconsfield. It is an important wildlife corridor that extends to the Dandenong Ranges through to Western Port. Grasmere Picnic area is located within this park area, which includes a wetland area and walking track which links to Buchanan Road.

Ensure you pack a picnic lunch as Grasmere Picnic Area is an open parkland allowing for recreational activities such as walking, picnicking, bird and wildlife viewing and cycling. It is surrounded by Farmland and bushland along the creek corridors. There is a one-kilometer circuit walk where you might spot the odd kangaroo or wallaby. You can venture out to the wetlands where there is an abundance of birdlife to view.

Snakes are active in the warmer months, so please stay on the existing paths to avoid any unnecessary encounters.
