Great Dividing Range Trail (Hepburn Regional Park Addition, Hepburn Regional Park, WOMBAT STATE FOREST, Barkstead Regional Park)
The trail is made up of 5 sections: the Leanganook Track, Dry Diggings Track, Wallaby Track, Eureka Track and Lerderderg Track. Together they connect Mount Buninyong, Ballarat, Creswick, Daylesford, Castlemaine, Bendigo and Bacchus Marsh. The route passes through areas shaped by the Victorian goldrush, with historic mining relics, water races, old settlements and cultural heritage sites found throughout the network. Sections within Wombat-Lerderderg National Park pass through fern-lined gullies, eucalypt forest and river valleys, with options ranging from short day walks to multi-day adventures.
Facilities vary throughout the trail network. Toilets, drinking water, camping areas and visitor facilities are available at selected locations and in nearby towns. Part of the trail is shared by walkers and mountain bike riders, although some sections provide separate routes. Dogs are permitted only where allowed under local park regulations. Carry sufficient drinking water, food and navigation equipment before setting out. There are no rubbish bins, so please take all rubbish home.
The section of the Great Dividing Trail that passes through Wombat-Lerderderg National Park is in the Central Fire District. Bushfire safety is a personal responsibility.
