Greenvale North Day Visitor Area (Greenvale Reservoir Park)

Located approx 25kms north of Melbourne’s CBD, the Greenvale Reservoir Day Visitor Area provides a great view of both the expanse of the reservoir and the city skyline. The Day Visitor Area is located in the northern section of the park. The reservoir was constructed in 1971 to supply drinking water to Melbourne’s growing Western Suburbs. It was built by creating a 52 metre high dam wall and has capacity of approximately 27,000 megalitres.
Visitors can walk their dogs on lead throughout the site, and may see wildlife including Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Wedge Tailed Eagles and White Bellied Sea Eagles, which are attracted to the reservoir. Fishing and swimming are not permitted as the reservoir is fenced off to the public, in order to protect the water supply.
Picnic facilities are limited to picnic tables and seats. Rubbish bins are not provided, so please take all rubbish home with you.
Limited car parking is available in the nearby residential streets.
Greenvale Reservoir is in the Central fire district. Bush and grass fire safety is a personal responsibility. For up to date information on fires in Victoria call the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226, download the VicEmergency app, or visit www.emergency.vic.gov.au.
The park will be closed on Catastrophic fire days.
