Larni Yirrip Campground (Bendigo Regional Park)

Larni Yirrip offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Dja Dja Wurrung culture and Country. On the edge of Bendigo, in shady Box-Ironbark forest rich in wildlife, a welcome and ceremonial space includes Djaara artwork, signs and storytelling. Facilities include accessible toilets, fireplaces, picnic tables, two large shelters and access to walking tracks. Day visitors are welcome - park at Number 7 Park, 250m away.
Camping bookings are essential. There are 12 unpowered walk-in tent sites (no caravan, trailer or motorhome access) with fireplaces and a designated car parking bay within 20-70m walk. Park large vehicles in the overflow parking. Eight sites have 5-7m wide circular gravel pads. Four have raised 8m wide wooden platforms with tie-down points. Site 2 has adjacent parking and level access for wheelchairs.
Visitor Tips:
Maximum 6 people per site. Check in from 1pm. Check out by 12pm. No bins are provided: take all rubbish away for recycling or disposal. No drinking water is available: bring enough for drinking, cooking and extinguishing your campfire. Watch out for prickly plants, ants and snakes. Do not camp, rest or park directly under trees with overhanging branches. It is prohibited to enter or disturb the frog ponds, but you can fish, swim and paddle at nearby Crusoe Reservoir.
Light campfires only in the fireplaces provided. Firewood collection is prohibited. Bring your own or a camping stove. Keep the 3-metre gravel area around your fire clear of flammable items and ensure that: an adult is in attendance at all times (awake, within 50m, with a clear line of sight); you have at least 10 litres of water available for immediate use; and you extinguish the fire with water, not soil. It is only safe to leave when it is cool to touch. No fires may be lit on Total Fire Ban days. Camping stoves may be used if they meet the conditions above.
Larni Yirrip is in the Northern Country fire district. On Extreme and Catastrophic Fire Danger days the Campground will be closed for public safety. Do not enter the Campground. If you are already in the Campground, leave the night before or as early as possible in the morning. Rangers may erect signs and try to warn campers, but bushfire safety is a personal responsibility. Evacuate via the main exit or on foot to Cherry Tree Lane. Check the Fire Danger Rating and for days of Total Fire Ban at www.emergency.vic.gov.au, on the VicEmergency smartphone app or call the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226.
