Maribyrnong River - Lynchs Bridge to Footscray Park Landings (Maribyrnong River, Lower Maribyrnong River land)

The Maribyrnong River has played a major role in the occupation and development of western Victoria. Aboriginal tribes have frequented its banks for at least 40,000 years.

Lynch's Bridge jetty and Lynch's bridge fishing platform provide popular spots for fishing and boating.

The river flows past Footscray Park with its Scotchman's Hill from where the famous Melbourne Cup can be glimpsed at Flemington Racecourse on the opposite side of the river.

Jumping or diving from bridges or trees and other structures is prohibited for public safety. There are shallow areas and often unexpected submerged objects.

Ensure dogs are kept on lead at all times and clean up after your dog.

Locals and visitors will benefit from easier access to the river through this project and the Maribyrnong River Boat Ramp project, which together will help revitalise this waterside precinct. The public floating pontoon facility, to be located in place of the former privately managed Edgewater Marina, will be able to accommodate multiple short-term berths and feature a lower-level platform suitable for paddle craft. Find out more about the project.
