Patterson River Circuit Trail (Patterson River, Patterson River)

Patterson River Trail is a 5.8km shared trail around the bottom of the Patterson River near the Bay. It is a gravel track in developed urban parkland setting with extensive views upstream to the Dandenongs and downstream to the Bay. The trail is relatively flat with bridge crossings across entrance points to the marinas.

Picnic spots can be found at various points around the trail and public toilets can be located near the Launching Way.

Notice to Mariners - Patterson River Entrance - reduced depth

Mariners are advised of shoaling and a reduced channel depth at the entrance of Patterson River, located at approximately
38˚04.408’S, 145˚07.173’E (WGS84). Recent weather events have led to the formation of sandbars in this area.
Mariners are advised to navigate with caution within the vicinity of Patterson River entrance, and to check local weather and tidal conditions before entry or departure.

All boat operators are advised to navigate with caution, as conditions can change quickly, sand can accumulate across the entrance and cause reduced depth within the channel.

The information provided is intended as a guide only and does not replace the judgement of the operator of the vessel.  Boat operators are advised to check weather and tidal conditions prior to accessing the entrance.  

Depth shown is to Chart Datum.
This survey will be replaced when a new one becomes available.

Notice to Mariners - Patterson River entrance - Maintenance Dredging

Mariners are advised of maintenance dredging works at the entrance of Patterson River at approximate location 38˚ 04.440’S, 145˚ 07.115’E (WGS84).
Dredging works will be carried out by a cutter suction dredge along the navigation channel between the Nepean Hwy bridge and the outer marks. Dredged material will be deposited on the adjacent beach, south of the River entrance.
On-water plant, equipment and potential hazards to navigation arising from the works will be marked as per IALA standards.
Mariners are reminded to navigate within the designated speed limit and exercise caution within the vicinity of the dredging works.
