Queenscliff Creek Edge Protection Works

Parks Victoria wishes to advise that stabilisation works are underway. You may notice vessels and a barge moving across the creek during this time, and over coming weeks as the works are completed.

Mariners are advised that no anchoring is permitted within the vicinity of the swing basin or the adjacent mooring grounds.

Project details
The existing seawalls located in the northwest corner of Queenscliff Creek are in poor condition and require stabilisation to ensure the ongoing safety of waterway users within the area.

The works will include removal of the two existing walls, one concrete and one timber, which will be replaced with a rock revetment to provide long-term stabilisation of the creek bank.

Construction access and impacts
Project construction materials and excavated materials will be transported by barge between the Queenscliff Harbour overflow carpark (near the Trawler berths) and the project site, Sand Island.

The contractor, Elstone Diving Services Pty Ltd, has advised that up to four barge crossings may occur each day during construction, with a maximum disruption of up to 15 minutes per crossing. Traffic control measures will be in place during these movements.

Public access to the work site will be restricted in the Queenscliff Harbour overflow carpark and at Sand Island, as indicated on the map.

Sand Island will not display exclusion zone buoys, as these would create a hazard within the navigation swing basin. Instead, clear signage will be installed in prominent locations to provide information for the public and waterway users.

Project information will be updated on Parks Victoria’s webpage at this location once works commence- https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to-see/sites/queenscliff-harbour

Parks Victoria thanks stakeholders and the community for their patience and cooperation while these important safety works are carried out.
