Wallpolla Island Closed

2022/23 Flood Damage

Wallpolla Islands is closed due to riverine flood damage from the 2022/23 event. Impacts affecting both access and visitor safety are still present and are being worked on as part of recovery efforts. Timeframes for re-opening to the public are still unknown at this time.

Changed access to Yungera Island via Belsar Rd

Due to high river levels and impacts of recent flooding, access to Yungera Island will need to be via Belsar Rd.

Travel along Cattleyard Track and enter Yungera Island.

The Narcooyia creek crossing has been eroded away after recent flooding events and not traffic able. 

Note: Creek track has an identified sinkhole that is a hazard for vehicles.

Murray River Adventure Trail

Stage One of the Murray River Adventure Trail proposes new canoe and kayak launches, pedestrian links and new facilities at key visitor sites from Barmah National Park to Koondrook. Stage One will pass through Echuca, Murray River Reserve, Gunbower National Park and Lower Goulburn National Park. Find out more about the project.

Altered access to Tolhurst Bend & Barra Bend area, Murray River Reserve, from Young Rd. Torrumbarry

The current existing public access track into above area from Young Road has now been blocked off.   As of 23/10/24, the former entrance / exit track to the area, prior to the 2022 flood event, has been rehabilitated & re-opened.
