Full park closure - Fire recovery Mount Buangor

Following a Bushfire in February 2024, the Mount Buangor State Park is currently closed to allow for stabilisation, recovery and rebuilding of visitor infrastructure. This includes Middle Creek, Ferntree and Bailes Camping Areas, all walking tracks and roads, except for the Beeripmo Walk which is accessed from Mount Coles State Forest.

Other Parks in the wider area available for camping and walking include:
Langi Ghiran State Park - East of Ararat
Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve - West of Clunes
Kara Kara National Park - North of Avoca
Enfield State Park - South of Ballarat
Creswick Regional Park - Creswick
Lake Bolac Lake Reserve - Lake Bolac

Follow the recovery here: https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/projects/western-victoria/mount-buangor-state-park-fire-recovery

All of Mount Buangor State Park is closed except for the Beeripmo Walk, (accessed from Mount Cole State Forest), under National Parks Regulations 2024 20(1)(B). The purpose of this set aside is to restrict access and close Mount Buangor State Park to the public for the purposes of preserving, protecting and managing the park while the park recovery management occurs. Fines apply for entering the closed area.
