The project

The Dja Dja Wurrung Camping Village called Larni Yirrip (Home of the Ironbarks) is a new campground that has been created in Bendigo Regional Park.

This project was delivered on Dja Dja Wurrung country by DJAARA (Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation).

This is new campground offers people the chance to enjoy Dja Dja Wurrung culture and the Box Ironbark forest immediately adjacent to Bendigo and near the No. 7 and Crusoe Reservoir, which is popular for swimming and walking.

The new campground includes defined camping areas, toilet and picnic facilities, two shelters, frog ponds, landscaping, signage, improved vehicle and pedestrian access and fencing to protect sensitive vegetation. These upgrades help protect the significant cultural heritage and environment of this special site.

Project funding

This project was funded $2 million from Victoria’s Great Outdoors. Victoria’s Great Outdoors is $106.6 million investment by the Victorian Government into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across Victoria’s parks and state forests.
