Parks Victoria manages campsites in 47 parks across the state. 131 campgrounds are available to book.

The Parks Victoria booking system is the way people select, book and pay for their campsites or accommodation with Parks Victoria. Every year, nearly 400,000 people book a stay through this system.

Improving the system

In 2022, Parks Victoria upgraded its booking system. This means people can filter for campsites by date, location and see campsites on an interactive map. It also allows people to change or cancel a booking themselves.

Previously ballots were used in very popular campsites in some national parks. In 2022, Parks Victoria made the decision to phase out ballots. This creates a more efficient system and gives people more flexibility with their bookings.

After we released bookings in 2023, we received feedback that the system did not work well on release day and it was difficult to use. Some people raised concerns about equity of access and privacy.

Privacy systems were strengthened in 2023, following challenges experienced in the 2023 booking release process.

Parks Victoria is committed to having a booking system that is easy to use, fair and efficient.
