Volunteer

Volunteering in parks is a great way to contribute to conserving Victoria’s special places. The many personal benefits of volunteering include learning more about plants and wildlife, gaining new skills, being in the outdoors, improving health and well being and meeting new friends. Time spent in nature also reduces stress and promotes physical wellbeing.

Lower Maribyrnong River Trail partial closure

The Maribyrnong River Trail is closed from Canning Street, Avondale Heights, to ‘Carpark C’ in Brimbank Park. There is no access between these points for safety reasons.

Flood damage has impacted trails, culverts and fences in various sections; these hazardous impacts and debris now need to be removed and rectified to ensure continued safe access for the community.

Planning is underway to repair the trail and works are expected to start in mid-late 2024, subject to environmental and on-ground conditions.
