Banksia Park Picnic Area (Yarra River, Yarra Valley Parklands)

Enjoy a day out with the family and friends in this large picnic area, with a broad expanse of mown lawns with numerous large trees and surrounded by native vegetation. The park can be accessed from Templestowe Road, Bulleen. The Banksia Park Picnic Area is a popular location with visitors of all ages. The park is perfect for cyclists, joggers, walkers and those who enjoy a breath of fresh air.

The area has a picnic shelter and tables, playground, accessible toilets and drinking water. BYO bbqs can be set up on the specially marked areas adjacent to the picnic tables. There are no litter bins on site, however coal bins are available for the disposal of cold coals only. Please take all other rubbish away for recycling or disposal.

Leonda Landing closure

Leonda Landing on the Yarra River is currently closed to all pedestrian and vessel access until further notice due to structural damage.  

In the interest of visitor safety, please stay off the structure. 

A temporary floating landing has been installed adjacent to the timber landing to allow access for small vessels (<12m) to berth and unload passengers. This landing is for loading and unloading of passengers only.

Main Yarra Trail Daily Closure for Boardwalk Works

The Main Yarra Trail will be closed on weekdays from 7.30am to 4.00pm between Bonds Rd and the Plenty River Trail in Viewbank from 10 to 21 August 2026.
 
Temporary closures will be in place while the Plenty River Boardwalk, adjacent to Rosanna Golf Course, is undergoing reconstruction work, preventing bicycle and pedestrian through traffic on weekdays. The trail will be reopened overnight and on weekends.
 
Please seek an alternate route, refer to the attached map for optional route details.
 
Parks Victoria apologises for any inconvenience caused.
