Current Access 23/08/2024 at 4000M/L

Some tracks are closed to motor vehicles within Barmah National Park and the adjoining Murray River Park (proposed) for public safety and to protect track conditions following minor flooding.
 
The following tracks are CLOSED within Barmah National Park, however the remaining are recommended four-wheel drive only and are subject to change at any time without notice:
  • Four Mile Tk & Sapling Landing Tk (Part),
  • River Rd (Part – Tongalong Island),
  • Hughes Tk (Part),
  • Short Cut Tk,
  • McDonalds Tk.
 
Depending on changing conditions, 2WD drive vehicles and some 4WDs, including those with low clearance or without snorkels fitted may have difficulty accessing some of these tracks.
 
Most tracks are otherwise OPEN in Barmah National Park, the River Murray Reserve (Ulupna Island) and Tocumwal Regional Park (adjoining Barmah National Park).

We will review access on a weekly basis and open the closed areas as soon as possible. Please take care on all tracks due to the wet conditions and if you can avoid using wet tracks, please do so for your safety and to prevent track damage.

Park Area Closure for Timber Removal and Fuel Treatment

Please be advised that all areas within the red shaded section of the attached map, including but not limited to walking tracks, vehicle tracks, roads, and parking areas—specifically School Track, Trickeys Track, and a portion of Boundary Track—will be closed to public access.

This closure is essential to allow contractors to safely remove fallen timber and conduct fuel treatment operations. Please note that heavy machinery will be frequently operating in the area.

  • Effective Dates: 12:01 AM, 1st September 2024 to 12:00 PM, 31st October 2024
