Churchill Picnic Area (Churchill National Park)

Churchill Picnic Area is set amongst the tall eucalypts, the perfect location to spend a relaxing afternoon. The area has one free gas barbecue, picnic tables, an undercover shelter, carpark, and toilets.
From the Churchill Picnic Area, there are many walking trails to explore, ideal for peaceful walks in nature. Channel Track consists of a gravel path with some varying terrain, running along the old aqueduct. Follow the path as you wander through thickly wooded scrub and loop back to the picnic area . There are trails of varying length and degree, some of which extend into Lysterfield Park. As you venture towards Trig Point Lookout, stop and admire the spectacular viewing opportunities of the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Kangaroos commonly graze in the picnic area and surrounds. Please don't feed the wildlife and remain a safe distance.

Churchill National Park is open from 10:00am and closes at 4:00pm all year round.

Notification of Fox Control Program

Parks Victoria are undertaking fox control in Lysterfield Park, Churchill National Park, Baluk Willam Nature Conservation Reserve and Cardinia Creek Parklands to relieve predation of vulnerable and threatened native fauna and minimise impacts on neighbouring livestock.

The program involves the use of Canid Pest Ejectors with para-aminopropiophenone (PAPP) poison and soft-jaw leghold traps to reduce fox numbers in strategic locations.

Domestic animals may be at risk. Please observe the local regulations.

Fox control will occur until June 2025.
