Albert Park Upgrades

Home to more than 40 clubs, with 6,000 members, across 16 different land and water sports – Melbourne’s Albert Park is a hub for the local area’s growing community sports clubs. We’re delivering a range of projects across the park to improve facilities for the local community.

Cape Schanck boardwalk improvements

Cape Schanck offers stunning landscapes, the mystery of dramatic volcanic features, unspoilt and wild beaches and scenic walking tracks with spectacular ocean views. The project will deliver upgrades to walking tracks, lookouts and the boardwalk within the Cape Schanck Precinct.

Dandenong Ranges National Park Grants picnic ground upgrades

Grants Picnic Ground is a popular picnic location in Dandenong Ranges National Park on the edge of the beautiful Sherbrooke Forest. The Margaret Lester walking track is being upgraded to provide an all abilities accessible walking experience. Once complete, the track will be a Grade 1 walk, suitable for visitors with prams, wheelchairs or limited mobility, to enjoy the forest.

Dandenong Police Paddocks Reserve Master Plan

We’re leading the development of a Master Plan to guide the park into the future. While this is underway, we’ll also be delivering some immediate works to improve the reserve’s safety, access, and connection for visitors as a priority. This includes trail maintenance, new wayfinding signage and installing access control barriers at the entry of the park to discourage rubbish dumping and illegal vehicle access.

Parks Victoria is rebuilding the popular Dromana Pier to ensure the community and visitors have a safe and accessible maritime facility.

Flinders Ocean Beach Car Park and Track Project

In 2020, following a major rain event a significant landslide occurred below the Flinders Ocean Beach visitor car park near the King Street Beach Access walking track – causing a large section of the car park to collapse and the steep slope continues to be unstable. To ensure the safety of visitors, we're decommissioning the car park. We'll also upgrade and realign the beach access track to help reopen the walking track to the community and keep it safe for many years to come.

Flinders Pier Project

Critical safety works are being planned for Flinders Pier using funding from the 2022-23 State Budget.

Parks Victoria is replacing the steep steps at Gipps Street with an elevated walkway to improve how cyclists, people with prams and people with accessibility requirements can enjoy the Main Yarra Trail.

Point Cook Homestead Precinct restoration project

An investment of $1.5 million will fund a range of projects in the Point Cook Homestead precinct. These works will refurbish and maintain some of the heritage buildings on site, and a new toilet facility will be built.

Planning is underway to ensure Sorrento Pier and the adjoining waters are well placed to provide safe facilities for years to come through the development of the Sorrento Local Port Area Plan.

St Kilda Pier Redevelopment

A $53 million investment to rebuild the St Kilda Pier will give locals and visitors better public open space and better swimming spots, while preserving the historic kiosk. A new curved pier will replace the current pier, with new features that will boost tourism and preserve it for future generations to enjoy.

Clyde Regional Park

A new 120-hectare regional park will be created in Clyde, on Bunurong Country. The land will be transformed to provide important habitat for plants and wildlife, and create more opportunities for the community to spend time with friends and family, unlock the benefits of time spent in nature, and make the most of our beautiful open green spaces.

Kororoit Creek Regional Park

A new 215-hectare regional park will be created in Deanside, on Wurundjeri Country. It will provide new opportunities for the community to get active, spend time with friends and family and connect to our beautiful parklands and waterways. It will also help protect the Natural Temperate Grasslands and provide important habitat for the Growling Grass Frog.

Werribee Township Regional Park

A new 340-hectare regional park will be created in Wyndham Vale and Tarniet, on Wadawurrung Country and Bunurong Country. It will provide new opportunities for the community to get active, spend time with friends and family and connect to our beautiful parklands and the Werribee River.

The Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program is a $21 million project delivering upgrades to 21 popular parks across Melbourne, including extending the Bay Trail at Point Cook, and repairing the seawall at Point Gellibrand Coastal Heritage Park.
