The project
Parks Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Country this project is being delivered on.
Murray-Sunset National Park is home to the famous Pink Lakes. This remote and unspoilt corner of northwestern Victoria draws adventurers and photographers from all over the world, as well as those who love 4WDing and camping.
To ensure people enjoying the 4WD route and other campers have access to high quality facilities, the existing toilet facility at Lake Becking will be replaced. Tracks, parking and camping areas at Lake Becking will be better defined using new signs and bollards.
Project benefits
Visitors
The upgrades will improve the camping and 4WD touring experience in the Mallee.
Environment
Better defining carparking and tracks will help to protect vegetation by keeping people on designated tracks and in the campground.
Project funding
This project has been funded $617,000 from Victoria’s Great Outdoors. Victoria’s Great Outdoors is $106.6 million investment by the Victorian Government into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across Victoria’s parks and state forests.
Environment and cultural heritage management
We are seeking key environmental permits and approvals. Cultural heritage on site has been assessed to ensure it is protected throughout the delivery of works.
Who are we working with?
