Loddon Floodway - Middle Bend Camping Area (Proposed Murray River Park (part), River Murray Reserve)
Enjoy swimming or fishing in the Murray River or relax among the River Red Gums at Loddon Floodway - Middle Bend Camping Area. Bring a picnic or barbecue, or spend the night immersed in nature. No fees or bookings apply. This is a dispersed bush camping area with no facilities. Campers must be self-sufficient. Access is via unsealed roads suitable for 2WD vehicles in dry weather only. A 4WD vehicle is recommended. This dispersed camping area can accommodate tents, caravans and motor homes.
Visitor Tips: Do not park, camp or rest under or near large trees, like River Red Gums. Whole trees and branches may fall at any time without warning and swing away from the tree.
Rivers may have fast currents, low visibility, underwater objects, shallow areas, unstable banks, drop offs and deep holes. Do not dive or jump in. Always actively supervise children in or near water.
Fishing and boating in the Murray River must comply with NSW regulations. Victorian regulations apply to all other waterways in the park.
Please practice minimal impact camping and take all camping gear and rubbish away when you leave. Campsites must be at least 20m from the riverbank. Digging steps into riverbanks is illegal and can cause erosion and landslides.
River water is not suitable for consumption.
Campfires are permitted if it is not a Total Fire Ban day, and: a 3 metre area around the fire is cleared of anything flammable; at least 10 litres of water is available for immediate use; and an adult is in attendance at all times. Fires must be no larger than 1m across and contained in a pit at least 30cm deep. Always extinguish fires with water not soil. A fire is safe to leave when it is cool to touch.
Firewood collection is permitted for on-site use only and must not be removed from the park. Collect only dead wood from the ground. Firewood must be cut on site and not dragged.
No bins are provided. Please take your rubbish away. Report illegal dumping to 13 1963.

Barmah National park Closed areas
Due to
Flooding areas of Barmah National Park, Proposed Murray River Park and Tocumwal
Regional Park have been closed for public safety and to avoid damage.
Most tracks
and visitor sites within these Parks have become inaccessible to motorised
vehicles due to localised rain and flooding from rising river levels.
The current
closure effects all visitor sites and tracks displayed on the attached map with
exception of those highlighted in Green and
listed below which can be accessed by 4X4 vehicles, as some water crossings may
be required:

Take care and
monitor the situation

River Levels are still high and Additional areas may be closed or become
inaccessible at any time.

we encourage community members to take extra care around rivers, creeks and
lakes as water levels may rise quickly and without warning. We encourage those
travelling to new or unfamiliar areas to exercise additional caution.

If camping never camp under trees or branches and avoid camping on low-lying
land near creeks, rivers, streams, and other waterways.
•
If conditions outside appear dangerous over the coming days, please stay
inside. If you are driving and conditions deteriorate, safely pull over away
from drains, trees, low-lying areas and floodwater.
•
Stay up-to-date with any warnings issued by downloading the VicEmergency app
and establishing a personal watch zone for your local area or the area you are
travelling to. Updated forecasts are also available on the Bureau of
Meteorology website at bom.gov.au.

Construction
Underway- Bidgee Lagoons and Wakool Creek
Work is underway at various sites to improve access for
visitors, park users, and emergency services, helping more people enjoy parks.
Construction works will include upgrading ageing
infrastructure to improve access and deliver beneficial environmental and
conservation outcomes.

Works commence: Tuesday 1st September
Track closed: Tuesday 1st September to
Saturday 31st October (no vehicle or pedestrian access)
Closed areas include River Track, Bidgee Junction Track,
Boundary Track
Access during works
Dispersed camping is available in Narrung with entry via
Murray Valley Hwy (MVH) or Passage Camp with entry via Mills Lane off the MVH.

River Murray Reserve adjacent to Guttrum and Benwell State Forests access changes
Recent rainfall and a high river event has resulted in some
natural flooding inflows impacting the River Murray Reserve adjacent to the Guttrum
and Benwell State Forests. Please do not drive through flood water or around
road closures.
Access roads through the state forest may be closed for
safety, impacting access to River Murray Reserve - please check the DEECA public access map for
details.
Karadoc Boat Ramp Closed
Karadoc Boat Ramp will be temporarily closed from 31 August 2026 while Parks Victoria undertakes upgrade works to improve safety and access for boaters.
The works will include reconstruction of the existing boat ramp.
During construction:
The Karadoc Boat Ramp will be closed to all vessel launching and retrieval.
Access to the immediate construction area will be restricted.
Alternative boat ramp access is available at:
Red Cliffs Boat Ramp (downstream)
Horseshoe Bend Boat Ramp (upstream)
The closure will remain in place for the duration of the works.
Parks Victoria apologises for any inconvenience and thanks visitors for their patience while these important upgrades are carried out.
Karadoc Boat Ramp Closed
Karadoc Boat Ramp will be temporarily closed from 31 August 2026 while Parks Victoria undertakes upgrade works to improve safety and access for boaters.

Gunbower National Park and River Murray Reserve access changes
Recent rainfall and a high river event has resulted in some

Reserve on Gunbower Island.
Access to some areas may be restricted and 4WD vehicles are
recommended due to slippery access roads. Please do not drive through flood
water or around road closures.

Murray River Adventure Trail
Stage One of the Murray River Adventure Trail proposes new canoe and kayak launches, pedestrian links and new facilities at key visitor sites from Barmah National Park to Koondrook. Stage One will pass through Echuca, Murray River Reserve, Gunbower National Park and Lower Goulburn National Park. Find out more about the project.
