David Mandie and Clarke Shields Pavilion upgrades at Albert Park

Project status

July 2022: Complete

The project

The David Mandie and Clarke Shields Pavilion is a much-loved hub for sporting clubs including the South Melbourne District Sports Club (SMDSC) and AJAX Football Club, located between Ovals 9 and 11 at Albert Park.

The pavilion has been expanded to deliver new female-friendly and all-abilities access changerooms, as well as a gym, meeting area and physiotherapy space.

These important new facilities will enable more people to access the pavilion and get involved in community sport, particularly women and girls and people with accessibility requirements.

The expansion of these facilities supports the guiding principles of the Albert Park Masterplan, improving the quality of experiences available in the park, and meeting the diverse and changing needs of visitors.

Works were completed in July 2022, with the new facilities now open to the South Melbourne Districts Sports Club (SMDSC) and AJAX Football Club.
